1. What cookies are
Cookies are small files a website stores in your browser to recognise it on later requests.
2. Cookies we use
bigsavant.com uses strictly necessary first-party cookies and, only if you accept, Google Analytics cookies:
| Name | Purpose | Duration | Type |
|---|---|---|---|
__Host-dr_session | Keeps you signed in after you log in. | 7 days, or until you sign out | Necessary · first-party |
__Host-dr_csrf | Protects forms against cross-site request forgery (CSRF). | 24 hours | Necessary · first-party |
dr_consent | Stores your choice in the cookie notice (accept/reject analytics). | 6 months | Necessary · first-party |
_ga | Google Analytics: randomly distinguishes visitors for aggregated statistics. | 13 months | Analytics · consent only |
_ga_YC4ZVZ3QV3 | Google Analytics: keeps the visit session state. | 13 months | Analytics · consent only |
The session and CSRF cookies are HttpOnly (not readable by scripts), Secure (sent only over HTTPS), and SameSite=Lax, with the __Host- prefix restricting them to this domain. None contains your name or email.
3. What we do not use
Apart from Google Analytics (optional), we use no advertising, social media, or other third-party cookies, nor equivalent tracking technologies. Google Signals and ad personalisation are disabled, and the addresses sent contain no parameters.
4. Consent and control
Necessary cookies do not require consent (Article 5(3) of Directive 2002/58/EC and Portuguese Law 41/2004). Google Analytics cookies are only set — and Google's code is only loaded — after you click "Accept" in the cookie notice. If you reject, nothing is sent to Google. You can change your choice at any time via "Cookie preferences" in the footer; withdrawing consent deletes the _ga cookies. We ask again after 6 months.
