Concept and mechanism
Language services extract entities, recognize intent, translate, and support knowledge questions. Structured output needs application interpretation. CLU can identify intent and entities but does not authorize or execute a change. Out-of-scope requests need examples, None evaluation, and a fallback flow. Confidence supports routing; it is not a universal probability of factual truth. PII detection can return redacted text without automatically changing the stored original. In Translator, dynamic dictionary serves suitable terms such as proper nouns, requires explicit source language, and requires English on one side. It should not be treated as an arbitrary sentence-rewriting mechanism.
Guided application
In fictional international operations, evaluate the audio, transcription, translation, and presentation flow as a whole. SSML controls aspects of speech synthesis with support depending on the selected voice; it does not itself correct recognition. WER helps measure transcription errors, but a lower average can hide a missing critical negation. Include service names, codes, and rollback instructions in acceptance data. Retain human confirmation before impactful actions and route ambiguous requests. Manage access and retention for recordings and redacted versions. For new projects, consider the announced CLU retirement on 2029-03-31 and assess the provider-indicated evolution without confusing historical learning with future deployment recommendations.
“Do not restart” converted to “restart” requires investigation even when average WER improves.
Common pitfalls
Confidence as authorization; output redaction as original deletion; WER as operational impact; a known intent for every request.
