An AI solution includes a resource, endpoint, model or service, identity, and usage contract. Authentication identifies the caller; authorization determines what that principal may do. Managed identity reduces secret distribution but requires suitable permissions. In classic Azure OpenAI, managing the resource and performing Microsoft Entra inference are distinct capabilities: inspect Actions, DataActions, and scope. A test using the developer personal token does not establish application access. On a private path, check DNS, connectivity, and network policy from the actual runtime before interpreting authentication failures. Region, version, deployment type, and capacity belong in the approved configuration.
Guided application
In a fictional APS release, first separate name resolution, connectivity, identity, authorization, and capacity. Record request IDs without storing credentials. HTTP 429 requires reading the response and observing bursts, concurrency, and limits; a per-minute average can hide a saturated short window. Respect retry guidance when present and use bounded retries with backoff and jitter. Also define quality metrics because HTTP 200 and low latency do not guarantee correct answers. Containers require product-specific connectivity and billing assessment, including conditions for disconnected options. Handover identifies owners, cost limits, legacy-secret rotation, alerts, and criteria for reverting a change.
Networking works, the personal token receives 200, and managed identity receives 403: compare principals and data permissions before changing capacity.
Common pitfalls
Contributor as guaranteed inference; private DNS as authorization; 429 as a single cause; safety filtering as factual validation.
