Understand the concept
Blob Storage stores objects; Azure Files provides file shares; Managed Disks provide VM disks. Selection starts with application interface and access pattern. Storage tiers and options vary in access, price, and redundancy. An archive option may require rehydration time incompatible with an urgent read.
Apply and decide
Redundancy replicates data under the selected design but does not automatically replace recovery from deletion or corruption. Define retention, access, and restoration according to need. AzCopy and Storage Explorer help transfer/management operations; for migration, plan integrity and completeness validation, not just byte copying.
Workplace application
Before migrating a share, identify protocol, concurrent access, volume, and recovery needs. A finished copy needs integrity validation and authorized use at the destination. For archives, compare access time with any rehydration; rarely used documents may be requested urgently. Define retention and recovery mechanisms for deletions without assuming redundancy preserves every previous state.
An application requires SMB. Evaluating Azure Files is more appropriate than assuming a blob can serve as the same share without adaptation.
Common pitfalls
Choosing tiers only by price while ignoring recovery or application protocol.
