APIs, data, and AI-assisted decisions

Validate types, effects, and recommendations before automating a change.

Concept and mechanism

JSON distinguishes strings, numbers, and Booleans. The literal false is not equivalent to the string "false" or number zero when the schema requires a Boolean. Validate the API contract before submitting data and retain identifiers used to correlate requests. HTTP also distinguishes semantics: POST is not generically idempotent. If the response is lost, the operation may already have produced effects. Look up state or the resource through an available reference before retrying. Reliable automation needs to handle uncertain outcomes, not merely local client success or failure.

Guided application

An AI recommendation is a working hypothesis to compare against current configuration and topology. Check whether its evidence is complete and whether the proposal fits the authorized change. During an incident, a summary can organize observations but should retain links to original logs. Before executing a change, identify impact, recovery, and success criteria. If the controller is unavailable after a request, avoid creating repeated objects; suspend or reconcile manually through the procedure. Speed is useful when outcomes remain observable and controlled.

IN PRACTICE

After a POST timeout, use the external reference to look for created configuration. Retry only when state and the API contract support a safe decision.

Common pitfalls

Sending strings where Booleans are expected; indiscriminately retrying POST; treating verbal confidence as evidence; deleting logs after summarizing.
