Infrastructure Manager manages infrastructure described in Terraform. Creating VMs, networks, or other resources does not itself install an application on those resources. Define application deployment and evidence of functional completion separately. The executed revision must be identifiable: a branch can change while the team investigates failure. Retain configuration, logs, state, and revision to reconstruct what was attempted. A preview helps evaluate changes, replacements, and dependencies before applying them. It is not a safety guarantee because external conditions and state can change. Approval should consider impact, window, recovery, and the exact version of proposed intent.
Guided application
In a fictional production preparation, a run creates networking and fails before finishing the platform. Do not assume an atomic transaction that undid everything. Inspect partial state, pin the intended revision, and review the next plan. Rerunning with subsequently changed code can mix recovery with a new change. Ephemeral environments also need a lifecycle: define owner, lifetime, teardown, and reconciliation of resources left outside the normal path. Deleting a branch does not prove resources disappeared. When an assistant generates configuration, validate effects and permissions in isolation; a satisfied parser only demonstrates accepted syntax. Use independent requirements to evaluate the outcome and keep the production decision with the team.
A one-line change can replace a stateful resource; diff size does not measure impact.
Common pitfalls
Retry as undo; branch as fixed version; IaC as automatic application installation.
