Persistent data and proportionate access

Separate persistence, recovery, and confidentiality.

Concept and mechanism

A persistent volume can survive Pod replacement, but this does not create a historical data copy. Before deleting a PVC, check its consumers and the volume’s reclaim policy. The policy can affect the storage resource; a temporary name does not demonstrate that data is no longer needed. Recovery planning should consider logical changes, copies, restoration, and application validation. In a migration project, define who accepts recovery and when the source can be decommissioned. Do not use a new Pod in Running state alone as evidence that business state was preserved.

Guided application

For operational access, describe resources, verbs, and scope. Reading Pods and their logs in funds can be represented by a Role and RoleBinding in that namespace. The pods/log subresource needs its own authorization; a grant in dev does not automatically extend into funds. For secrets, base64 is not encryption. A manifest exposed in a repository may have copies in history and clones, so deleting the latest commit does not demonstrate containment. Follow rotation and access procedures and validate at-rest protection configuration and workload delivery. RUN must diagnose the service using defined privileges without depending on cluster-admin.

IN PRACTICE

At handover, rehearse log reading with the actual APS group and restore with the contingency identity; administrator-only tests do not prove autonomy.

Common pitfalls

PVC treated as backup; Delete without reclaim-policy review; base64 treated as encryption; get pods equated with get pods/log; cluster-admin for convenience.
