Concept and mechanism

An investigation conclusion does not change the service by itself. Convert the proposed correction into owned work with dependencies, appropriate authorization, implementation strategy, stop criteria, and recovery. A change linked to the problem provides action traceability, but its existence does not establish implementation. Tests should target the identified mechanism and check relevant regressions. If correction is too risky within the available window, a temporary measure may need to remain while residual risk is submitted to the appropriate decision maker. That decision needs context, consequences, conditions, and review. Acceptance does not remove the defect and cannot automatically be attributed to whoever closes the ticket.

In the inspected ServiceNow Brazil documentation, Accept Risk can lead to Closed or Resolved depending on problem.acceptrisk.move_to_closed, retaining the Risk accepted resolution code. Therefore, a closed state does not prove permanent correction. This is documented product behavior rather than a universal problem-management rule. The same workflow can link changes to investigation; a notification after changes are completed or canceled also does not demonstrate effectiveness. In a fictional exercise, a supplier cannot deliver a fix until the following quarter. Record the risk decision, temporary controls, owner, and review date while distinguishing cause removal from accepted exposure. If conditions change, revisit the analysis through the agreed process.
