Concept and mechanism
An app builder turns an operational need into concrete capabilities with acceptance criteria. Choosing configuration, a package, or code should start from demonstrated gaps. A prototype helps establish whether an interaction fits available components without requiring the entire application to be rewritten. AgentExchange packages require assessment of permissions, dependencies, support, and updates; a positive rating does not replace those checks. Distinguish object, field, and record authorization. A sharing rule can extend visibility over a private baseline but does not automatically grant object Read. Access hierarchy depends on roles and applicable settings rather than merely the job title written on the user.
Guided application
Also assess indirect exposure paths. A report type defines available objects and fields, while dashboard running context influences displayed data. A cross-object formula can show a contract value even when the operator cannot open the contract. Authorization must cover the derived field and the channels where it appears. For managed packages, avoid absolute claims about immutability: custom metadata can have subscriber-editable fields with their own upgrade rules. Record these decisions in the design and test them with representative roles. An administrator-only demonstration does not establish behavior for the people who will operate the application.
A package adds contract margin to the support console. Before adopting it, the team establishes whether that role may know the margin, reviews the formula, and tests reports and the page using actual permissions. The field can be excluded from a pilot while other capabilities are evaluated.
Common pitfalls
Package reputation treated as authorization; sharing treated as object permission; formulas treated as nonsensitive information; managed treated as immutable in every detail.
