Concept and mechanism
A promise of weekend credit needs a compatible instrument and operating capability. API availability does not change a traditional transfer’s calendar. For SCT Inst, receipt of the authorized order anchors the execution cycle, with specific rules for scheduled orders. Subsequent internal processing consumes time; starting measurement only at adapter dispatch hides delay. The rulebook distinguishes its five-second target and inter-PSP milestones from the ten-second limit for handling the payer’s account. If confirmation is absent at that limit, immediately restore the account and inform the payer. This action does not establish that the transaction definitively failed.
Guided application
In implementation, retain attempt identity, relevant timestamps, received confirmation, and customer communication. Separate technical state, account effect, and financial outcome. A late positive confirmation requires immediately informing the payer; additional treatment must follow the applicable procedure because the scheme does not define a universal subsequent remediation rule. Support must correlate that outcome without creating another transfer. Define tests for normal confirmation, rejection, missing response, and late success. Incident reports should distinguish known facts from unresolved questions. A local timeout alone neither authorizes resubmission nor establishes success.
Example: the account is restored at ten seconds and success arrives at thirteen. Associate the result with the original attempt and apply exception handling; a second transfer may duplicate payment.
Common pitfalls
Measuring only network latency; timeout treated as rejection; restoration treated as failure proof; automatic subsequent debit without procedure.
