Plans, products, and quality evidence

Turn deliverables and dependencies into verifiable commitments.

Concept and mechanism

Useful planning begins with understanding what must exist and how suitability will be established. “Configure recovery” is work; a recoverable service under agreed conditions is a verifiable result. Describe criteria, verification method, and acceptance authority. Connect dependencies: a rehearsal may need connectivity, data, permissions, and partner availability. Placing the activity in a calendar does not make those products available. Retain an overall project view and enough detail in the stage being executed. As information improves, detail later work without losing dependencies or presenting uncertain dates as guarantees.

Guided application

Before delegating a work package, agree content, interfaces, criteria, timing, reporting, and limits. The team should understand and accept the commitment. During delivery, distinguish test execution, result, and acceptance. A recovery rehearsal completed in forty-eight minutes does not meet an agreed maximum of thirty. Record the deviation and route treatment or proposed change to the appropriate authority; do not change the criterion to make reporting green. Also preserve progress-data provenance. A recalculated dashboard should allow retrieval of information used for an earlier decision, including definitions, version, and appropriate access.

IN PRACTICE

An existing dashboard can fail the criterion of alerting APS when batch processing exceeds its deadline.

Common pitfalls

Hours as quality; completed test as passed test; dates without dependencies; history overwritten by current forecast.
