← Product Owner: discover, decide, and create value

Delivery, stakeholders, and operations

Prepare release decisions and adapt plans using operational evidence.

Concept and mechanism

The Sprint Review allows inspection of the Sprint outcome and discussion of future adaptations with stakeholders. It is not mandatory approval for every release. A usable Increment can be delivered before the Review while respecting applicable organizational controls. The Product Owner should understand these conditions without assuming that value accountability permits bypassing security or operational decisions. Involve those taking the service into production early: access, monitoring, recovery, documentation, and responsibilities affect the ability to realize value. Operational readiness needs evidence proportionate to risk. A functional presentation alone does not demonstrate that support can diagnose or recover the service.

Guided application

In a fictional file service, business stakeholders want a feature available on Friday, but APS still cannot identify duplicates. Expose the gap, bring together those authorized to decide, and compare options such as fixing it before delivery or limiting availability with explicitly accepted measures. Do not invent an exception or treat silence as acceptance. The roadmap should communicate intent, expected outcome, and uncertainty, allowing solutions to change when new data appears. Explain dependencies and pending decisions in language both business and technical participants understand. A useful sentence is: “Which outcome is essential for this date, and what evidence is still missing?” Record the response and the next decision point.

IN PRACTICE

A demonstration validates part of the solution; operations requires additional evidence.

Common pitfalls

Review treated as a universal gate; immutable roadmap promises; assumed exceptions; late support involvement.
