Self-management with clear accountabilities

Support team decisions without centralizing task assignment.

Concept and mechanism

In a deployment-automation team, the Product Owner clarifies intended outcomes and product priorities. Developers decide how to organize work to create a usable increment. The Scrum Master helps improve effectiveness and understanding of the framework. This separation does not create isolated departments: forecasting needs collaboration and solution choices require understanding value. Delegating a backlog activity does not automatically transfer Product Owner accountability for its management.

Guided application

A manager starts assigning individual tasks each morning out of concern about delay. The team stops reorganizing work when blockers emerge, waiting for another instruction. The Scrum Master can facilitate a conversation about goals, constraints, and decisions the team should make. A useful experiment lets the team build its plan, expose impediments, and inspect results. Removing organizational barriers does not require the Scrum Master to solve every technical problem alone; they can connect the right people and enable decisions.

IN PRACTICE

Only one specialist knows network configuration. The team plans pairing and knowledge transfer rather than permanently reserving every related task for that person.

Common pitfalls

Confusing support with task command; making the Scrum Master the only communication channel.
