Concept and mechanism
A story helps discuss who needs a capability and why. Its title alone may leave behavior ambiguous; examples and acceptance criteria support discussion of outcomes. Relative estimates help compare work within context, but eight points do not universally mean eight hours. Do not compare teams through their chosen scales. A Definition of Ready can serve as a local agreement for checking preparation and dependencies; it is not a mandatory Scrum Guide element. Definition of Done describes quality conditions for considering the increment complete. Preparation and completion are different moments.
Guided application
People need to expose difficulties without being punished for making problems visible. If a team depends on extra nights every iteration, investigate capacity, dependencies, and priorities before turning that effort into a permanent commitment. Sustainable pace helps preserve attention and quality. When several teams participate, coordinate goals and interfaces to assess the integrated product. Two completed components may remain incompatible. Organizational change includes adoption by service receivers: involve shifts, confirm access, rehearse tasks, and gather feedback. A completed training session does not demonstrate support autonomy.
A shift may know the tool yet lack permissions to perform the required response.
Common pitfalls
Points as hours; Ready as Done; silence as agreement; overtime as normal capacity.
