Concept and mechanism
The business case retains the connection between investment and expected value. A feature list does not establish that connection: explain how each release contributes to an outcome. A project canvas can summarize the problem, goals, and assumptions for discussion. A release map shows release sequence and content, while backlogs enable work ordering and refinement. Overall vision and near-term detail should coexist. If a need becomes irrelevant, reassess priority and justification; existing estimates do not make work useful. Use clear limits to distinguish delegated refinement from change requiring a higher-level decision.
Guided application
The inspected syllabus includes direction, product, supplier, assurance, management, and support perspectives alongside coaching, development, and testing. Clarify the mandates of the project executive, Chief Product Owner, senior supplier, project manager, project assurance, and project support in the project. Product Owners and delivery roles need coordination; coaches support collaboration and improvement. Do not confuse this structure with the three accountabilities defined by Scrum. When a team uses Scrum, Developers decide how to execute selected work. Split large changes into usable capabilities to obtain feedback. With a fixed window, assess phasing optional scope while preserving essential criteria and authority.
A coach can help teams expose dependencies without gaining budget and architecture authority.
Common pitfalls
Backlog as unlimited authorization; tickets as increments; coach as universal decision maker; dates as certainties.
